The Dead Pool vs The Chimp Pool

I thought I'd add some pics to my first post from below. Here's how it ended up coming out along with some close-ups.

So, here's the poster I got for the show. I thought it might be cool to incorporate a firing range target into the poster.

My initial thought was to make the movie poster an homage to all the Dirty Harry movies. That meant I had to have the Zodiac killer from the first movie in there somewhere.
I went out and got this target so that I could paint his face on the target.

I did a quick sketch of him and then painted him up on the target.

Here's how the face came out. I cut up the target portrait and pasted it into the poster. Like I said, the original plan was to put a bunch of Dirty Harry references on the poster. I was recently talking to a buddy about Eastwood's chimp movie, Any Which Way But Loose. Needless to say, my plan of attack has changed, and I now need to work some Orangutans into this poster. Stay tuned for the finished piece, or check out my art blog to see the final. http://www.theaugblog.blogspot.com/

Cocoon Movie Poster WIP

Cocoon Movie Poster WIP - ink, gouache and watercolor on poster - 25" x 40"

Hi all, it's Lawrence. Here is where I am so far with the Cocoon movie poster for the show coming up at Gallery 1988. I feel pretty good about where the piece is... Apart from a few minor touch ups, I think this is mostly done.

Hope everyone had a good long weekend!

Bonnie & Clyde

Here's an in-progess pic of Aaron Jasinski's poster...

Aaron had "Bonnie and Clyde" and I love that he's added a lot of his own work while still highlighting Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty's faces, as well as their names toward the top. The lighting is amazing! We'll post the finished image when it's ready.

&Rew. Under the knife

Progress pictures are fun although a time lapse would be more cool - I don't have that sorta setup. So here's to second best:

birth to death for this part of the image.
I gave this wild thing a skull nose. I love the idea of using a skull as a nose and I don't do it often enough. It's not so easy to tell and it sorta looks like a mushroom (grrrrr) but other than that, it's all good.
be seeing you,
&Rew.
